Decarbonizing the Foundry: A Three-Decade Roadmap for Sustainable Metal

Content Description & Use Cases

This series of isometric illustrations tracks the structural shift of a major foundry toward climate neutrality. By using a consistent layout across three timeframes (2025, 2035, and 2045), the work allows the viewer to “spot the difference” in the energy mix—transitioning from traditional power grids and gas to wind turbines, solar arrays, and Hydrogen storage.

The clean, “white-space” aesthetic strips away industrial grime, focusing instead on the logic of the circular economy (represented by the recycling icons) and the integration of green technology into a legacy industrial site.

Potential Use Cases:

My role focused on creating a modular visual system where every industrial asset—from melting furnaces to hydrogen tanks—was designed for clarity and digital integration.

Stakeholder Communication: This map serves as a primary tool for Fritz Winter to communicate their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals to international partners and local communities.

Interactive Web Maps: The isometric tiles were designed to serve as an interface, allowing users to click on specific factory sections to learn about CO² reduction measures.

Agency Collaboration: Working alongside Smart7, I ensured the assets were optimized for web performance, maintaining crisp detail while allowing for smooth transitions between the different eras of the foundry.
