Valavendur

The German publisher Maasberg was the first to trust me with the creation of the board game Valavendur. They contacted me for the complete artistic and technical direction, which ranged from visual design to industrial supervision. Beyond the illustrations and board design, I took full charge of creating the 3D figurines using Cinema 4D and ZBrush.

Then came the production phase. It was truly interesting for me to handle direct communication with the manufacturers in China.

I am sharing a little gem here straight from my personal archives. Just a small heads-up: the visual you see is not the final commercial design released by Maasberg. It is actually a visualization of the very first version of the board I proposed. Between us, I felt this initial concept had such character that it didn’t deserve to stay hidden in a forgotten folder on my computer. It is the perfect chance to show you the journey from the first ZBrush sculptures and Cinema 4D renders to the final version.

Final Choice

In the end, the project took a 90-degree turn because the publisher opted for a top-down view, this is the final version
